Kinship carers are reaching new audiences.
We were contacted recently by KOVA PR who offer opportunities from the world of film that would otherwise be unavailable to many communities. Their staff have been impressed with the work of Grandparents Plus and they asked whether KOVA PR could commit to supporting us.
This week some of our volunteers went to the luxury Soho Hotel to enjoy an exclusive screening of Pavarotti, by Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard. With an intimate look at Pavarotti the man, as well as the voice, the film was preceded by an interview with the tenor Joseph Calleja, who painted a fascinating picture of the operatic world ahead of the screening. Our volunteers enjoyed a night off, the occasion and the film itself.
If you fancy seeing Pavarotti – this Saturday 13th October, Luciano Pavarotti’s wife, Nicoletta Mantovani and renowned opera stars Katherine Jenkins and Sir Bryn Terfel, join prominent Classic FM DJ John Brunning for a public screening of the film. The live Q&A will be broadcast from Odeon Leicester Square and will be streamed into over 470 cinemas around the country. See here for ticket information.
KOVA PR have produced a free discussion starter to accompany the film – which can be found here.
Watch this space, there are some fun things ahead!
A note from Kova PR
KOVA PR are committing to continue to provide opportunities for kinship carers – we understand that there is little space, time and money for any extra activities just for you. Time is precious, so something fun and free, we hope, is a winner! We will keep everyone updated on these opportunities, and look forward to hearing your stories from you evenings out!
