Volunteer with us
By volunteering, you’ll be helping us to be there for kinship carers and their families at every stage of their kinship journey. From the moment they step up to raise a child to when they no longer need us.

Make a real difference for kinship carers
Most kinship families receive no financial or practical support. And that needs to change.
We deliver national support, advice and information; connecting kinship carers so they feel empowered rather than isolated.
And we can’t do this without you.
Our kinship volunteers are part of our Kinship family. They are key to delivering our services and support to all kinship carers. And, as many of our volunteers are kinship carers themselves, they know the difference it makes to have support from someone who understands the highs and lows of being a kinship carer.
You can help support kinship carers by:
- setting up a support group in your area
- providing emotional support over the phone
As a volunteer, the time you give really matters.
Why volunteer for Kinship?
There’s no better feeling than helping others and knowing that you’ve really made a difference. By becoming a volunteer, you’ll:
- meet new people and make new connections
- build relationships and develop friendships
- use your skills and expertise to guide new kinship carers
- learn new skills
What we’re looking for in our volunteers
We welcome volunteers, over the age of 18, from all backgrounds and abilities – particularly people with experience of kinship care or who grew up in a kinship family.
In addition, we’re looking for volunteers who are:
- good listeners and have good communication skills
- able to build trusted relationships
- non-judgemental and able to accept differences
- empathetic to the experiences of kinship carers
- committed and reliable
