Use your experience to help shape our work
Grandparents Plus is forming an advisory group made up of kinship carers who will meet quarterly to give us feedback on the work we are doing for kinship carers. We’re looking for people with kinship care experience for this voluntary role, who can use their knowledge and understanding of kinship care to help us develop our services, research, policy recommendations and campaigns.

#VolunteersWeek
We celebrated Volunteers’ Week – a chance to thank all the amazing volunteers we work with at Grandparents Plus. Our volunteers give us their time, and share their personal experiences, to raise awareness of kinship care and support other kinship carers through their journey.
“Being a volunteer enables me to give back for the support I have had.” Viv is a kinship carer who went from receiving support and advice, to giving it to others and being a key member of her local support group. Read more about Viv’s experiences of volunteering with Grandparents Plus.
We’re always looking for people to volunteer with us – and just a few hours a week can make a big difference.

Kinship carers at the royal garden party
Earlier this year we were lucky enough to be able to nominate some of our amazing volunteers to attend the Queen’s Summer Garden Party. We work with so many great people that we had to put names in a hat to decide. They all had a lovely day at Buckingham Palace, a well-deserved break and made the most of the sunshine and sandwiches.
Kinship Care State of the Nation Survey 2018
A huge thank you to everyone who has already completed our kinship care survey. Every year your answers give us a real insight into the experiences and challenges you face as kinship carers as well as helping to raise awareness and improve support. Last year the findings even made it on to the front page of BBC Online.
