What will I get as a Campaign Champion?
Join us as a Campaign Champion and we’ll give you training and support to boost your skills and confidence, enabling you to take your campaigning to the next level.
You’ll have opportunities to meet online and in-person: coming together with other campaigners to share your successes, help each other overcome challenges, and build a nationwide campaigning community fighting for change.
"I really enjoyed listening to the ideas from others and realising that I was capable of making a difference. It encouraged me to get going with my campaign and made me believe I am not on my own doing this. "

Campaigns training
Kinship local offer workshop – Ask your local authority to #ValueOurLove
Find out how to speak to your local authority about the kinship local offer, which covers all the support they offer to kinship families, and how to start making it better.
Join Kinship’s campaigns team for an afternoon or evening workshop across December and January and we’ll share ideas about how you can have a successful conversation with your local authority, and how you can start to influence the local offer as well as the support and services they offer.
Now is a great time to have these conversations with your local authority. They will all soon have to publish clear and accessible information in their kinship local offer about the services and support they offer and they should do this working with kinship families in the area.
We know many local authorities haven’t created one yet, while others have started but it could be developed further. Either way, there’s an opportunity to get involved, have your say and help make it as useful as possible for kinship families in your area.
Training dates and times:
- 11 December – 12.30pm – 1.30pm
- 27 January – 7pm – 8pm
- 29 January – 12.30pm – 1.30pm
To book a place or if you have any questions about the training, email the Campaigns team.
Campaigning resources
We have created a range of easy-to-use toolkits to help you plan your campaign activities.
This guide will help you think through how you and/or your support group can get involved in Kinship’s #ValueOurLove campaign to create effective and impactful change for kinship families.
We have developed a guide so kinship carers can work with their local authorities to develop the kinship local offer, and a briefing to give/send to your local authority when you’re talking to them about the kinship local offer.

We also have a toolkit containing general information on how to approach and persuade your local authority to make sure kinship families are better supported. It includes information on who to contact, what to ask for and how best to do it.
This toolkit contains information on building a campaign, working out who to target and how to measure your success. It also includes some great ideas on how to grow support locally.
Your MP is there to represent you in Parliament, and they can be a powerful lever for change. This toolkit guides you through how to contact your MP, how to have a positive meeting and what to ask them to do.
The local media can be a great way to get the word out about kinship care and the #ValueOurLove campaign. This toolkit will support you in contacting the media, what to say and how to get the message across.
Our kinship care constituency map provides figures about kinship care in each local area across England and Wales.
Our kinship care policy tracker will help you understand more about the current state of play for kinship care policy in England.
If you have an idea for resources which may be useful for your campaigning, please send us your resource ideas.
