Young Champions
Young Champions is a free project for young people growing up in kinship care (living with a grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling or family friend full-time). The project provides a safe space for young people to have fun and learn new skills, while working with movie producers to create a short film about life in kinship care.

We’re supporting young people in kinship care to share their experiences and voices to influence action and change. Learn new skills, make friends and meet other young people like you.
Our project highlights so far include:
- connecting with other young people in kinship care
- building confidence and learn new skills
- developing leadership, communication and teamwork abilities
- gaining hands-on experience in the film industry
- helping raise awareness and create positive change for kinship families
What’s included
- Kinship will cover all costs for young people, including travel expenses
- free excursions and school holiday activities, such as rock climbing and laser tag
- creative workshops, including art and photography
- training opportunities in the film industry, such as character design and animation
- meals and snacks provided
Project details
- for young people aged 12 to 18 who are living in a kinship household
- activities will be delivered in person, based in North London (participants must be able to travel to sessions in Angel, Islington)
- school holiday activities during October half-term and Christmas break
- 6-week after-school program, November to December
