Who is this workshop for?
Open to all kinship carers living in England.
Following recent updates to government policy and practice on kinship care, this workshop will give you information about what these changes could mean for your family and its implications for support from your local authority.
What will be covered?
In this online workshop, you’ll find out:
- what kinship carers told us in our latest annual survey about their experiences seeking support for their local authority, schools and other organisations and why these insights help us campaign for change.
- what the recent changes in policy and practice might mean for your family. We’ll cover the extension of the remit of virtual schools and the publication of the new Kinship care: statutory guidance for local authorities
- how to use our brand new Kinship Compass – an online postcode search tool to find support in your local area. Plus, how Kinship can support you through our free online and in person workshops, peer support network and advice line.
How to join the workshop
The workshop will be held online using Zoom, a free platform.
You can access Zoom through a desktop computer, laptop, tablet or even your phone. You may need to download Zoom before you join – please factor in time to do that.
The best experience will be through a computer or laptop. If you haven’t used Zoom before, you can watch this video on how to join a Zoom meeting.
When you register, we will send you a Zoom link which you will use to join the workshop.
Please make sure you:
- have downloaded Zoom to your computer or device
- join 5 minutes before the start – late joiners might not be admitted after 15 minutes
- have a pen / pencil and paper to make notes
