Preparing for sensitive conversations with kinship children workshop

Kinship carers are family or friends who step up, often during an unexpected crisis, to care for a child when their parents aren’t able to.

This workshop is open to all kinship carers living in England.

No matter what your family’s circumstances are, it’s best to talk openly about your unique situation.

In this workshop, you’ll learn why talking is important and how it can strengthen your relationship. You’ll get tools and tips to help you talk in a way that suits the child’s age and development.

"[The workshop] makes you think more how children may feel and what they understand or what they believe has happened. Also how to approach sensitive conversations in a positive way. And how to talk - maybe not look directly at the child, make it a calm atmosphere before tackling sensitive subjects."
